Muftis and Aalims.
Muslim Youth.
Islamic Schools and Madrasahs.
Islamic scholars dedicate years — often over a decade — mastering Qur'an, Hadith, Fiqh and Arabic. Yet many find it difficult to communicate that knowledge in English, use everyday technology with ease, or apply artificial intelligence in their teaching and research. MINBAR Labs exists to close this gap, without asking any scholar to compromise on authenticity.

MINBAR Labs is a sister initiative of Astronova AI Labs dedicated to helping Islamic Scholars confidently communicate in English while embracing Technology and Artificial Intelligence.

Naseem Ansari is the Founder of MINBAR Labs and its parent initiative, Astronova AI Labs. He holds a Master of Science in Electronics from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics from the Manipal Institute of Technology, India. He spent close to a decade as a lecturer at the Maldives National University.
I have spent my career teaching and doing research in engineering, but I have always stayed close to the world of Islamic scholars. What I have seen, especially in India, stays with me. Muftis and Aalims spend ten years or more studying Qur'an, Hadith and Fiqh. But that hard work is rarely rewarded. Many struggle financially, even after years of serious study. Their career choices are usually limited to a madrasa or a mosque, no matter how talented they are.
I have seen them struggle with small things that most families take for granted — paying for a child's medical treatment, school fees, even clothes for their kids. For every small need, they have to turn to the Muslim Ummah for help. This troubles me deeply, because these are the same scholars who teach us that the upper hand, the one that gives, is better than the lower hand, the one that receives. Yet in our own society, they are so often the ones left holding out the lower hand.
Outside their own community, people don't see or value what they know. And because most of them were never taught English or given access to AI and digital tools, they cannot join the global conversations and opportunities that could carry their knowledge further.
My mission with MINBAR Labs is to help them become self-sustained, so that they and their families can live better, more secure lives, free from constant financial worry — not by changing who they are, but by giving them the language and the tools to stand on their own and be heard.
